Journey of Philanthropy in a world immersed in the climate emergency

By Semiramis Biasoli

We live, after all, in the era of globalization, in which “each part of the world is, more and more, part of the world and the world, as a whole, is increasingly present in each of the parts. This is true not only for nations or peoples, but for individuals” (MORIN, 2003:67).

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the 3D image of the Earth accessed in real time, during the 11h flight, stimulates the perception of the connections between us, 8 billion humans and every piece of our small and beautiful planet, a habitat that we share with millions of other species of living beings.

Collaborative philanthropy in search of territorial sustainability: reflections and lessons learned

By Bianca L Avancini, Larissa Boing, Roberto Vilela, Semíramis Biasoli, Simone Amorim, Willian Narzetti

Among the various philanthropy practices existing in the Brazilian scenario, collaborative architectures have been strengthened as a path for the development of territories, from a perspective that assumes the construction of socio-environmental justice as its horizon. For this reason, it is important to deepen reflections on this way of practicing and thinking about philanthropy, having the dimension of the territory as its structuring axis.

Social Innovation in times of market solutions

By Fábio Deboni

Social Innovation is on the rise. There is so much talk about the subject, but are we talking about the same thing? After all, what social innovation are we talking about? This is the starting point of my fifth book: Social Innovation in times of market solutions.

The times we are in are complex. On the one hand, the pandemic and the current political and economic crises have exposed socio-environmental problems in our country, showing that, despite the relevance of the private sector on this board, civil society and the State continue to be fundamental actors in this game.

As a mission, the Fund has sought to capture and transfer resources to strengthen the capillarity of projects, in addition to identifying and articulating Environmental Education initiatives for support throughout the national territory.

Social business, civil society and donation: a broad front for social transformation?

By Fábio Deboni

As the social impact business agenda advances (from now on I will call it social business to make it easier), some questions still seem to remain in the forefront of this discussion. This raises a certain paradox. On the one hand, this agenda seems to be advancing in leaps and bounds as being a kind of 'icing on the cake' of market solutions to 'change the world'. In this same vein we find related themes (sustainability, ESG, among others), all presenting us with a narrative that market solutions, in addition to the market itself, are key pieces in this great arena of socio-environmental transformation.
