What happens when we see people within the organization?

Last year Baixada participated in the Comuá Network Capacity Building program. We could use many words to say what this program represents for our organization, but the one that makes the most sense is to see. It is a word that cannot walk alone, see and understand, see and invest, see and strengthen. Guimarães Rosa says that the flow of life wraps everything up and suddenly no more than suddenly in our field we are unwrapping processes and wrapping up people, organizations start to be bigger than the people who build them in their daily toil. Just as we prioritize the organization's electricity bill, we must prioritize people's energy. In this case it's not about keeping the power running with a payment to someone who provides the electricity, it's about building solidarity, recognition, acceptance and opportunity.

Institutional strengthening in boosting community philanthropy in Brazil

By Bianca Limonge Avancin

In Brazil, from the 1940s onwards, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) were known for movements formed by Churches (Catholic and Protestant) that prioritized the structuring of solidarity and humanitarian actions throughout the territory. Over the years, this conception of what an NGO would be gained different perspectives, including popular education movements, combating the military dictatorship and countercultural movements.

Journey of Philanthropy in a world immersed in the climate emergency

By Semiramis Biasoli

We live, after all, in the era of globalization, in which “each part of the world is, more and more, part of the world and the world, as a whole, is increasingly present in each of the parts. This is true not only for nations or peoples, but for individuals” (MORIN, 2003:67).

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the 3D image of the Earth accessed in real time, during the 11h flight, stimulates the perception of the connections between us, 8 billion humans and every piece of our small and beautiful planet, a habitat that we share with millions of other species of living beings.

No time to waste: Youth is in a hurry and so is the planet

By Regilon Matos – Casa Socio-Environmental Fund

Youth no longer want to be just a token of inclusion; they want to have a voice and a place in conferences that discuss the future of the Planet and the Climate Emergency.

Because of the current economic, social and environmental situation, it is important that the already awakened young become ever more vigilant and determined to take their place where decisions are being made, to enter into the political arena and the halls of civil society, becoming multiplying agents who will positively influence other leaders with their enhanced vision of present day actions and their determination to insure a better future for all.

There is no time to waste: Youth are in a hurry and so is the planet

By Regilon Matos

Youth no longer want to be just a token of inclusion, they want to have a voice and a place in conferences that discuss the future of the Planet and the Climate Emergency.

Given the current economic, social and environmental situation in our country and the world, it is important that young people are now awakened, become increasingly vigilant and determined to take their place where decisions are made, enter the political arena and the spaces of civil society, for a transversal debate with diplomats, CEOS, presidents, activists and third sector coordinators. In this way, becoming multiplier agents who will positively influence other leaders with their improved vision of current actions and their determination to guarantee a better future for all.

Diálogo: Philanthropy, culture of giving and my community

By Cléber Rodrigues

I was walking home the other day and a neighbor walking down the street waved at me and said:

— Hey my dear, good morning. I saw some photos of you on Instagram. You were just like the boss, huh! But I didn't understand anything that was written in the caption.

I gave him a smile, joked with the kid who was attentively listening to his father, and spoke.

— Hey my friend, that was the Philanthropy Network for Social Justice seminar…

He interrupted my sentence and with a questioning face said:

— Filamp… What?

Perceptions about Philanthropy

By Mariana de Assis

Philanthropy, Social Justice, Decolonial Philanthropy, Human Rights, Democracy. The 10-year Seminar of the Philanthropy Network for Social Justice – now titled Rede Comuá – immersed us in these themes and, in two days, brought together in a single environment the references of the national and international philanthropic system. I was there.

It's funny to note that when I started my professional work in the social field years ago, the notion of philanthropy was welfare, charity. The evolution in conversations, and cultural political moments, provoke welcome questions and reflections on the reframing of the concept.

Perceptions on philanthropy

Philanthropy, Social Justice, Decolonial Philanthropy, Human Rights, Democracy…

The 10th Anniversary Seminar of the Brazilian Philanthropy Network for Social Justice – now Comuá Network – immersed us in these themes and, in two days, brought together in a single environment the references of the national and international philanthropic system. I was there.

It's funny to observe that when I started my professional career in the social field years ago, the notion of philanthropy was linked to assistentialism, charity. The evolution in conversations, and the cultural political moments, provoke questions and reflections on the re-signification of the concept that are welcome.
