Mesmo estando entre os que menos contribuem para as mudanças climáticas, agricultoras/es familiares estão entre as populações mais impactadas pelos seus efeitos, uma vez que dependem diretamente do clima para manter seus modos de vida e sua subsistência.

Challenges for philanthropy to become more transformative

In October this year, Rede Comuá participated in the Wings Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, a triennial event that brings together philanthropy networks from around the world to reflect on how to improve and make philanthropy more transformative. The event was attended by a wide range of actors in this field, from corporate philanthropy to community-based philanthropy, international, regional and local organizations.

Alliance of Territorial Funds

The Territorial Alliance is born during the Month of Philanthropy that Transforms

On the 4th, 5th and 6th of September, representatives from Casa Fluminense (RJ), the Brazilian Environmental Education Fund – FunBEA (SP), the Grande Florianópolis Community Institute (SC), the Baixada Maranhense Community Institute (MA), the Instituto Procomum (SP), Redes da Maré (RJ), and Tabôa Fortalecimento Comunitário (BA) met in Santos, São Paulo, to hold the first meeting of the Territorial Alliance to plan the future with a focus on community and territorial philanthropy. The meeting had the support of Rede Comuá, integrating the actions of the Month of Philanthropy that Transforms calendar, and served to create the action plan for 2024 and define expected results until 2026, with the facilitation of Luciana Martinelli and Bruna Mattos, from the consultancy Dialógica – Human and Institutional Development.

Collaborative philanthropy in search of territorial sustainability: reflections and lessons learned

Among the various philanthropy practices existing in the Brazilian scenario, collaborative architectures have been strengthened as a path for the development of territories, from a perspective that assumes the construction of socio-environmental justice as its horizon. Forged from the praxis of various social actors, especially organizations and collectives that make up organized civil society, this is a field under construction. For this reason, it is important to deepen reflections on this way of practicing and thinking about philanthropy, having the dimension of the territory as its structuring axis.

Recently, Tabôa Fortalecimento Comunitário published its 2020 Activity Report. Producing an annual report is always an opportunity to revisit practice and shed light on the processes experienced, highlighting results, impacts and learning generated. And, in the case of a year as atypical as 2020, the task of systematizing the main reflections and lessons learned becomes even more important, seeking to strengthen institutional resilience and the ability to contribute to positively transforming reality.
