Decisões coletivas fortalecem a filantropia comunitária na campanha Doa Tubarão

A campanha comunitária Doa Tubarão, que arrecadou R$ 20 mil em doações livres em 2023, é um exemplo de filantropia comunitária. Sob a coordenação do Fórum das Entidades, um coletivo que reúne 25 Organizações da Sociedade Civil (OSCs) da Cidade de Tubarão, estado de Santa Catarina, o projeto é movido por uma dinâmica de tomadas de decisões coletivas, onde a colaboração entre as partes é essencial para o sucesso da iniciativa.

Donating Day and the Movement for a Culture of Donation

In the midst of its formation, in 2011, the Movement for a Culture of Giving – then a group of five instigated to strengthen giving in Brazil – we missed talking to people 'out there' and collecting data about Brazilian giving. The previous year, a small campaign had taken place at the now-defunct NGO Fair. At the same time, ABCR was in contact with 92nd Y, the American community center where GivingTuesday was born. As a group, we decided to combine all efforts: a Brazilian campaign name with American technology and strength. This is how Dia de Doar came about, the fifth campaign to join what is now a significant network of more than 150 countries that promote GivingTuesday.

ABCR: engaging the community in the organization's sustainability

At the founding of the Brazilian Association of Fundraisers (ABCR), in 1999, a group of professionals met and decided that it was time for the country to have an institution that promoted the work they were carrying out with so much dedication: mobilizing resources for causes.

Going in a different direction from organizations that relied on international support and funding to leverage themselves, ABCR sought its own path: it refused to be a chapter of the North American Association of Fundraising Professionals and sought to connect with who was on the front line of an activity that has not yet been fully understood and valued in the country: promoting the economic sustainability of civil society organizations.

Giving Day

Donate Day, an opportunity to mobilize resources in the community itself

The 2021 edition of Dia de Doar will be held on November 30th, a Brazilian initiative that is part of the #GivingTuesday network, an international movement whose mission is to unleash the power of radical generosity around the world.

In Brazil, Dia de Doar was held for the first time in 2013. Since then there have been annual editions, with an extra version in 2020, Dia de Doar Agora, which promoted donation during the pandemic.
