ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
This call is aimed at civil society leaders, professionals, students, and researchers working in movements, groups, collectives, philanthropic funds and institutions, community-based associations, institutes, and non-governmental organizations, among other civil society entities, who are interested in the production of knowledge about the philanthropic ecosystem in the areas of socio-environmental justice and community development. Individuals in question must be actively working within Brazilian territory.
Applications from Global South immigrants operating in Brazil will also be considered. Applications from individuals belonging to the professional teams of Comuá Network member organizations will need validation from the organization's representatives/executive teams (CEOs, executive directors, and/or coordinators) and/or governance members.
The Knowledge Program will also prioritize support for individuals belonging to political minorities – Black people, Indigenous, Quilombolas and other traditional communities, LGBTQIAPN+, residents of urban peripheries, women, people with disabilities, etc., and those committed to issues of equity and the promotion of diversity and inclusion within the philanthropic ecosystem.
Proposals from individuals who have provided or are currently providing consulting services to Comuá Network will not be accepted.
You don’t need a formal relationship (e.g., an employment contract) with the organization/group/collective/movement. We will accept profiles such as legal entities, consultants, volunteers, researchers, among others. Your engagement must be active within the organization, involving participation in activities such as coordination, mobilization, communication, knowledge production, and more.
We don’t have a specific character or word limit for the registration form. However, we encourage you to provide concise and relevant responses that address the questions directly without unnecessary elaboration.
That's not a problem. Our call for proposal values all types of knowledge and production formats, without prioritizing one over the others.
Yes! However, we won’t select more than one proposal per person to ensure a greater diversity of participants.
Not a problem. If you or your organization (or association/collective) are mentioned in another application form as an implementation partner for the proposal, it won’t influence the evaluation or selection process.
Of course not! In the Knowledge Program, academic knowledge production is just one of the ways in which knowledge from different territories can be conveyed, but it is definitely not the only one. Please feel free to propose ideas for products in the format that makes the most sense for your project, territory, or organization.
No, due to the limited size of the Comuá Network team and the high number of applications received, we cannot provide detailed comments on your proposal and the reasons for it not being selected.
In the previous year, many individuals submitted proposals that did not align with the objectives of the Knowledge Program. Therefore, we kindly request that you carefully read the call to ensure that your proposal is considered.
Mentoring
The selection of the mentor is the responsibility of each candidate. We suggest someone from your network who is easily reachable, active in the areas of philanthropy and/or social justice, experienced in the topic of your proposal, and available for potential meetings with you.
Regarding the availability of time, based on the experience of the previous group of supported individuals, an average of 2 to 4 hours per month is feasible.
No. The invitation and coordination with the mentor should be carried out by the candidate themselves.
Yes! We ask that you include the names of both (or more) individuals in the form.
Rede Comuá's technical team will provide the necessary support in identifying a mentor if you have not been able to find someone. We ask that you contact us via email contato@redecomua.org.br. It is not possible, however, to guarantee that a potential mentor identified will be available/interested in mentoring.
Unfortunately not. Monitoring through mentoring will not be possible, but members of Rede Comuá's executive team will be available throughout the entire process, including to talk about their proposals.
No problem. The same person can mentor more than one proposal, even if both are selected, if there is interest and availability.
USE OF RESOURCE
Unfortunately, no. For this call, selected individuals must have a bank account in their name.
A financial report for the received amount at the end of the program won’t be required. The call specifies all acceptable uses for the grant amount. However, we do expect selected individuals to engage actively in various activities organized by the Comuá Network as a form of commitment.
Yes! The amount received is exempt from income tax, but it still needs to be declared. Further details regarding this will be shared if you are one of the selected individuals.
