The Casa Socioambiental Fund has been systematically supporting local populations, basic and traditional communities who live in forest territories and are guardians of standing forests. We know that few resources reach communities, which often develop projects solely through “activism” and volunteering.
However, most philanthropic resources are directed to the Amazon given the importance and international projection of this biome. But for all the reasons listed above, it is also urgent to invest in the restoration and preservation of the Atlantic Forest.
Therefore, to contribute to the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and support dozens of local communities that fight to preserve the Atlantic Forest, the Casa Fund will implement the Program in 2023 “Casa Mata Atlântica” and opens the 1st call for projects to strengthen grassroots communities located in this Biome, in their search for better living conditions and socio-environmental justice.
Up to 45 projects will be supported with up to R$40 thousand each. The call is aimed at community associations, grassroots organizations and local communities that work with a socio-environmental focus in territories located in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
Recovering and restoring the Atlantic Forest can also help alleviate poverty, producing food and income-generating opportunities.
