Over its 42 years, Ibase has built a solid trajectory of innovation in working with communities and populations that are discriminated against and have precarious citizenship rights. To this end, it built research and community strengthening methodologies that resulted in innovative projects that had great influence on the formulation of inclusive and transformative public policies. Now, Ibase expands this commitment by creating the Favelas and Peripheries Fund, through which it intends to combine financial support for active citizenship—the set of grassroots organizations that operate in these territories—with the use of methodologies that have been used for over 15 years. To support this work, Ibase commissioned a systematization of the use of the “Integration Centers – Territorial Development” methodology, which critically analyzes this process and which heard representatives of the various grassroots organizations and social movements with which Ibase has worked since 2005.
Objective of the Activity: to offer a critical reflection on Ibase's work in favela and peripheral areas; share this experience and methodology with other organizations; and announce the first notices of the Favelas and Peripheries Fund.
