The 15th edition of the ABCR Festival, a fundraising conference by the Brazilian Association of Fundraisers, took place on July 3rd and 4th, 2023 in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The challenge of welcoming and putting together a program that catered to different levels of knowledge, experiences and interests was a key point and it seems to me that this year's Festival managed to provide these answers. The event provided basic information for those new to fundraising challenges, as well as advanced research and practices, providing cutting-edge content for experienced professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numerically larger, it also presented a greater diversity of professional areas present: not just counting on an audience of recruiters and collectors, but rather, members of the technical and financial areas, in addition to the strong presence of communication professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth highlighting here: could these be signs of changes in the institutional culture of fundraising, not treating it as a closed or specialized area, on the contrary, presenting it as a collective challenge to the entire organization?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contributions for those who want to specialize in a specific fundraising strategy are great, as they find the Festival a safe environment for exchanges, counting on the sharing of practices, bringing their learning and challenges, and mainly, the ways found to face such challenges. In other words, it is about sharing learning in a genuine way, providing the opportunity for this knowledge to reach other organizations and contribute to the growth of the donation culture in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strong point was fundraising with large donors, individuals, including fundraising by legacy, presenting experiences from the European and American continent, aiming to expand this field in Brazil, which still has low numbers in fundraising with individuals, compared to other parts of the world .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another highlight was the vision of the future: such as the specific programming for youth and the panels addressing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its increasingly stronger presence, which demonstrates the need for organizations and fundraising professionals to have it as an ally , getting to know it and bringing it into the day-to-day operations, seeking to keep up with innovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An interesting point was the presence of the ESG agenda, which brought reflections and paths for CSOs to find their relationship models with companies. The highlight from the provocations is the concept that the CSO-company relationship needs to be understood beyond the provision of services versus the company's accountability, but the focus on acting in partnerships, in fact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this partnership building is the responsibility of both sides: both the third sector recognizing the potential contribution of the business sector to the 2030 Agenda based on ESG applicability, and the business community recognizing in organized civil society, the potential and expertise necessary to implement actions in the environmental, social and governance fields, contributing to challenges presented in the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so, the Festival fulfills its role of dealing with the multifaceted and vast field of resource mobilization, evaluating practices, building knowledge and tools that anchor the day-to-day life of the fundraiser and the fundraiser. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our vision of an independent fund added to Rede Comu\u00e1, more than offering current affairs and instructional tools for the professionalization of the area, participating in the Festival strengthens the cause of our existence and commitment to the agenda of decoloniality and the necessary decentralization of resources at the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It strengthens our activities in the field of community philanthropy, understood here as: \u201ca way of transferring power closer to the base, so that the local population has greater control over their own destiny [1].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is essential that the mobilization of resources ensures that they reach communities, territories and causes and, in this way, we fulfill our important role in Brazilian society of facing socio-environmental inequalities, and contributing to the guarantee of democracy and respect for diversity, man of our Brazil!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
