The title of this text is the first definition of Rede Comu\u00e1 under my eyes. There are many ways to choose to define yourself as a network, but I will stick with the one that connects and expands. This text, which follows in a horizontal line, intends to talk to you about how knowledge is constructed based on decolonial community philanthropy. We are not designing recipes, in fact what we aim to do is build spaces with possibilities.<\/p>\n

There are many ways to do philanthropy, few people recognize this. Here is our first frontier. When I refer to people, I am recognizing the existence of a system, mode, objective qualification about what philanthropy means for those who recognize it and not exactly for those who do it.<\/p>\n

Spaces such as the Philanthropy, Social Justice, Civil Society and Democracy Seminar establish the current need to recognize the philanthropies that are generated within the territories of this country.<\/p>\n

When I look at the territory where the Baixada Maranhense Community Institute operates and I notice the relationships that are established daily as solid constructions, the result of human interaction, which is only possible because we are in a territory of ancestral knowledge that allows us to understand development as a collective act and never individual, these definitions establish in a very concrete way the spaces in which our organization can be. Guide and not just be an agenda, recognize and build space for leaders and organizations that have the territory as their source of intellectual production that is built not during the project, but much earlier, because it is in the ancestral territory that we grow stronger. And by territory we mean land, people and time.<\/p>\n

It is time for us to understand in one way or another that there is knowledge within communities, which is not inferior, it is equally important as that which is produced in large centers. For us to move towards reducing inequalities, it is necessary that those who are allocated to growth decrease, because only then will our communities grow. Decreasing in this case does not mean losing, I will give a dynamic example, you who have a path full of development, can increase your table and stop building fences.<\/p>\n

For us, being on the network is valuable. As a community we build in a circular way. This is what makes us stronger.<\/p>\n
